Many things happened when I was a high school senior at Taft. It was 1965, and I recall a demonstration in front of the army recruiting center on Fordham Road against the Vietnam War, the first of many. That summer, the Beatles arrived, and so did the Voting Rights Act, followed by the riots in Watts. Malcom X was assassinated. The following spring, my family moved from the Bronx to Yorktown Heights.
