For me, in addition to the ones I mentioned above, another attraction was fishing on the Bronx River under the bridge near Fordham road and Pelham Parkway.

Another one was Crotona Park. The lake, the handball courts, the baseball field

Also my neighborhood (Southern Blvd & Tremont Ave) had 7 movie theaters within walking distance. Ritz, Chester, Vogue, Elsmere, De Luxe, Dover, Fairmont
