Didn't know the elephants like bread? As I recall, you could get pretty close to the elephants trunk in their "house" indoors but not outdoors? Pretty sure there were elephant "food" dispensing machines in the elephant house where you paid 10 cents for a handful of pellets to feed the elephants. Were you feeding them the bread indoors or outdoors? People would feed the ducks bread in their pond near the Southern Blvd/181st entrance to the zoo. Also I remember people feeding the goats in their enclosure, closer to the Boston Road/180th street entrance to the zoo. The people would give them anything and they would eat it (like paper bags and newspaper.) Yep, Those were the good old days!!!
