Nice post of your experience. I had 3 relatives of my extended family who were NYC Police Officers. One of them had moved out of the city so while he was at the academy he stayed with my sister in Queens---close enough to get to the shooting range, etc. I knew Police Officers who visited socially in our Bronx apartment because they knew my father. While residing in New Jersey for many years I personally knew a number of Officers and Detectives due to having them as clients for their Income Tax forms. When stopped for speeding while driving my car, I would hand the officer or state trooper, my license and 8 or 9 ID cards from various locations. Some were stunned. To top it off, my daughter married someone who became a Police Officer who is the father of my grandchildren.
