great. I used to drive past E.156th street & Concourse Village West on a weekly basis and one day noticed the street was co-named after NY Yankees great Thurmon Munson. I found it odd that such an obscure street on the other side of the Grand Concourse 10 blocks away from Yankee Stadium would be chosen to co name for Munson and not a more prominent street closer to the stadium. While there are two schools on the block now it was basically an empty dead end street when the dedication was done. In all the on line research I did on the subject no one from the NYC Parks Department Commissioner to Yankees management or anyone else could explain the significance of how or why that particular block was chosen to be co-named Thurmon Munson Way. Very mysterious.
