I know exactly where this is being that I grew across the street from the old NYU Bronx campus with the Aqueduct walk situated in between my building and University avenue. This is the corner of Aqueduct Avenue and W.184th street. Anyone living here could walk up these stairs and take a nice stroll north to Fordham Road and beyond or walk south all the way to Burnside Avenue. It was such a picturesque view with treelined path that led to playgrounds and basketball courts. The summer nights were filled with neighborhood residents relaxing and listening to music til wee hours. Hope others have recollections of the photo.

So what's the "special significance"?

I described it. But to be more clear The Aqueduct Path was originally the waterway distribution line that started up in Westchester County and and ran south into Manhattan crossed over the Harlem river via The Highbridge tower into the The Bronx and passed right by my front door (lol) stretching north up to the Jerome Reservoir. Just a piece of useless information that I learned in 3rd grade at PS 91.The Croton Aqueduct Trail is a community park running between Kingsbridge Road and Tremont Avenue. Aqueduct Walk is designated as an official New York City scenic landmark.
