Many years ago, in the 60's, I drove by a grotto on White Plais Rd and only 1 time I slowed down to look. I believe this is it too. I don't know if there's any other grotto in the BX.

Where is this? I don't think I've ever seen it.

It's located in the Williambridge section on Bronxwood avenue. I don't know much of its history . I just remember my mom and her friends taking us kids there to pray the rosary.

You got it Kevin. This is near White Plains road. The only grotto that I'm aware of the Bronx. Haven't been there in over 50 years but you got the right place. What sticks out the most in my mind was walking through the man made cave that was situated, I believe behind the mstery photo. Kinda of freaked me out as young child.

From Parkchester. Get to Westchester ave and White Plains rd. Go North and make no turns until go past east Tremont ave and out of Parkchester. About a half a mile more, when you reach Van Nest ave, it's in that area off to the right.

Actually, it's on Bronxwood Ave at Mace Ave, a few blocks north of Pelham Pkwy. It was a popular hangout among the Wanderers in the early 60s. The lower grotto was a great make-out spot.

Cut the anti_Catholic undertone of your post!

No anti-anything intended. Just a pure, unadulterated fact that I know from very personal experience. Relax.
