I was told my Father's father was born in the bX about 1885. His mother came from Ireland. No idea when either of those great grandparents, on that side, even came to the USA. My mother's parents, also from Ireland, came to the US about 1900 because I know the first born of 8 kids came in 1900. They moved from Manhattan into the BX about 1930,

My Dads parents came from Ireland. County Kilkenny I believe. But my dad was born and raised in Long Island City Queens.
My Mom was part Italian. Grandpa came from Salerno, Italy around 1907 at the age of 9 or 10. (my cousin's computer savvy son-in-law did some research).
My maternal grandma came from Ontario, Canada. She married grandpa a week after she turned 18 in 1922.The "newlyweds" originally lived on Brook Ave and E.138th St.
They had two kids. (My future mom and uncle).
They moved to 1996 Gleason Ave around 1940 before that section of E.177th St. was dug up to make way for the Cross Bronx Expressway.
Before that time, I have no idea.

Interesting details. One big coincidence is I was told my grandfather bought 2141 Gleason about 1922. They were almost neighbors before the CBE split the neighborhod in two and connected Gleason by the bridge over the CBE.

Exactly my situation Barbara. We always heard my grandparents were from Russia, but actually it was Ukraine which under Russian rule back then.

Is there anyone who lived on Davidson Ave which was closed off when they built the middle school
on West Tremont? Sadly, they torn down my building (actually two building attached to one another)

My grandparents on both sides moved from East Harlem to the Crotona Park section of the Bronx, in one case during the 1920s, in the other around 1930.

My paternal grandparents moved to The Bronx in 1915 from East Harlem to Beck Street in the Longwood section. My Dad was 13 years old at that time. My maternal grandparents moved to The Bronx from East 98th Street in Manhattan to Freeman Street in 1919. My Mom was 14 years old at that time. When my Dad turned 21 in 1923, he and his parents and siblings moved to Freeman Street where he met his new next-door neighbors, including his future WIFE (my Mom!). They became engaged two years later and got married in 1928.

1918. Grandparents moved from Brooklyn to the still suburban Bronx to escape the terrible Flu epidemic in the city but came down with it as did so many neighbors. They survived, many others in the Bronx died.
