Echo Park Return to topicsPost to this topic

It was a jutting rock cliff at the end of a long block(Echo Place) of apt. buildings. It was left as a park as they couldn't build on it.

Echo Park was part of a local field trip from my Earth Science class in the 60s. Most of the park is a large paleozoic rock outcrop that borders the Webster Valley, a vestige of the original Bronx River valley. The park is now called Richman Park, named for Julius J. Richman.

Steve B, Thank you for your interesting background information. 'Webster Valley' makes great sense when you see how it's all configured...Millions of years of history before Jonas Bronck made his purchase.
