Of all the old things that we talked about that are no more, there's one we missed. I remember standing in the street looking up as a fleet of planes wrote mesages in the sky. Skywriting! We always tried to figure out the message before it finished. Do they do that anymore?

I think it really is a lost art and replaced by planes towing banners, which is very common over beaches on Long Island.

My recollections of observing those skywriters in the Bronx were the ones writing the messages that from my perspective, were upside down or backwards. I seem to recall a few promoting radio station call letters...but I cannot remember anything else.
