Whose been back to the Bronx to is it their old neighborhoods?
I haven't because my building (actually two buildings attached to each other)
has been razed for a middle school.

From the window of the MetroNorth enroute to Grand Central I see the Grand
Concourse.......Yankee Stadium.......

My husband and I drove through our old neighborhood after a Yankee game in September. My building on Sheridan Ave is still there but the block was pretty depressing. Big iron gates in front of many buildings and a lot of graffiti. Very sad.

I had lunch at Rambling House on Katonah Avenue in Little Ireland not too long ago. The area is frozen in time from when I lived there. Nothing has changed and it's still a nice area.

Me! Me! Meee!!! I took the 3 am train from DC to NY on my birthday/Mothers Day one year and took photos with me of Mom, Sis, Auntie and Nonna Lucia all mothers -- I had a great time-- I think they did too!!

I walked along and said "I'm Hone... I'm HOME!!Pelham Parkway -- and I still looked to see if any 59 Cadillacs are gliding down that street-- ix nay, alas...

The place where Pee Wee died .... is now a clinic -- healing is there now....

Under the Pelham Parkway El, the newspaper and soda shop that had so many hot rod mags that were quickly taken out of my hands by the proprietor when I would look thru them is still some kind of newspaper place - no more root beer floats or ice cream sodas though. The bar next to it -- in front of which Sis and I would stand so we could inhale the hot fumous stench of alcohol when one or another inebriated patron opened the door to leave -- is gone.

Many of the shopfronts are still there with new businesses and alas...the old guy who hand-made cigars and would liiiick the wrapper as a final step -- is also gone. I rememebered the interesting anecdote about Harpo Marx and HIS cigar maker in his nabe, LOL.... And what has NEVER ended is...new generations making new memories, just like me, sis and our peers back then.

The #12 bus us now one of those long double buses-- that took me to the Zoo, The Botanical Gardens and Arthur Avenue. The place where HOward Johnson's stood was, back when I visited, just a vacant lot.
