Nok Hockey Return to topicsPost to this topic

Yess....I loved Nok Hockey but the first time I played it I had an unexpected reaction. Joey and Billy's mother Mary had made some wonderufl spaghetti -- I ate until I was full and then...
I lay on my stomach to play nok hockey, and eventually had to run into the bathroom with its scary "chain-pull tank over your head-ready to-fall on you" toilet -- while Mary was wringing her hands and crying dolefully -- "She's throwing up blood!!" while Mom Sylvia, the surprisingly cooler head at that moment was trying to get a more logical word in edgewise......

I played Nok Hokey every summer at PS96. Nowadays it would be too physically taxing for a youngster,!

Nok-Hockey was my absolute favorite activity at the playground and at after-school sessions. I developed skills to consistently make twosies (squeezing the puck off the block with my thumb), down-the-alley shots (along the perimiter) and others. Kids still play it where I sub-teach and they are kind of freaked out that I can whoop their behinds game after game.

Did you used to play Nok Hockey as a kid in the Bronx? Me and my friends loved the game and spent (wasted?) many hours playing it. Do kids today play it any more? Probably not, unless it's an app on their phones.
