Some comments. The choices to date are classic and personal to the poster--which is fine. Jennifer Lopez, not my favorite but I like her, currently is the most famous person from the Bronx. She is internationally known. Two of my favorites are from the sports world. Hank Greenberg and Lou Gehrig. For the future, Sonia Sotomayor is a Justice on the Supreme Court. I would expect that her name will forever be known in the legal world and by laymen. She has many decades ahead of her to put her signature on documents.

Carl Reiner...............not sure about his son Rob. If I were on Finding Your Roots, I could possibly learn that we are related.........!!! My father, William was in Vaudeville as a soft shoe dancer. I still have a sort of playbill from the Valentine theater in the Bronx.

Jerome Ashby was a world renowned French Horn player for the N.Y. Philharmonic Orchestra. Although his on line biography makes no mention of him being from The Bronx Jerome lived across the street from me at 1925 Harrison Avenue. Our group played all the street games of the day and he was just a nice kid. I can still remember himself and his mom coming home in the evening during school and Jerome carrying a big encased musical instrument that was the French Horn.Jerome attended school downtown at Juilliard and his mom worked down there so that was why he didn't get home til after 6pm from school. Unfortunately Jerome passed away several years ago and I've often thought of approaching the NYCHA which owns the building today about the process of naming the building after him. This would require the cooperation of the family I'm sure which may be difficult.
