OK Saul! You got me on that one! Tappan referred to the tribe of Lenape Indians that settled the region. Zee is Dutch for Sea. You are correct, the Dutch named the body of water after the tribe that inhabited the region. The bridge was named for that body of water, not the Indian Tribe!
You made me laugh at reading your post. Reminded me of the age old question, who was the Bronx named for?
