I went to JHS 44 in the early 50s. I had Gwendolyn Umlas as a home room and French teacher--great and beautiful lady. I believe Cortelleni was a shop teacher and had us all making pump lamps--lovely guy! Rosenberg was a sports teacher along with Shapiro not to be confused with the other Shapiro (one was A and ones was V) Gambella run into my mom with his car and injured her before I went to 44--my mom didn't tell me till years later so as not to affect my time at 44. I had Gil Bloom for math and remained friends with him all these years till his death a few years ago. I revisited 44 a few years back and it was great!
