North New York was a designation of that part of the Bronx many years ago. In Evelyn Gonzalez's book "The Bronx" there are map diagrams from 1870 and 1898 defining the village of North New York as bounded by Third Ave. on the west, Brook Ave. on the east, 132nd street on the south and 149th Street on the north. In "History in Asphalt" it says it's another name for Old Morrisania and was a postal address in 1862. It was divided into city lots in the 1860's and was annexed to New York City in 1874.
