I always loved cats. We had street cats in my nabe as well -- Puddy, who I wanted to adopt -- Mom said "She's WILD! You can't take her upstars!" (Puddy would let me pick her up and hold her upside down like a baby....) Puddy eventually was rescued after her kittens were tragically dispatched by the local tomacats -- she was taken to live on the landlady's farm. Then PeeWee, whom I raised from a 2 week old kitten -- Mom made me leave her behind when we moved away -- my heart still breaks today.

I made up for that in my new nabe in the South by raising 3 wonderful kitties who lived well into their teens.
