During the 40s and 50s, my parents and I visited their very close friends who lived on East Kingsbridge Road, across the street from Poe Park. Their apartment had a sunken living room. As a small child and into my teenage years, I always looked forward to our visits, as I had become fascinated with the two steps and curved railings leading down to the sunken living room. Did you know people who lived in a Bronx apartment with a sunken living room? In fact, could that sunken living room have been yours? Any memories to share?
