My father was an accountant. whether he was happy in the job or not, I don't know, but he always worked for small "mom-and-pop" companies like Tuck Tape, the FR Corporation or CIBRO oil. I don't think he would have in with a large accounting firm. He wasn't a "an "alpha male" by nature, most of his effort went into his hobbies, like photography (he build his own enlarger). He was happiest hiking in the woods, taking pictures, lifting weights and playing piano. He became an accountant by default--his father's small business needed someone to keep the books, and he was it!
