Terrific story. Worthy of the science fiction of H.G.Welles. The following incident really did happen. There once was a huge cage in the zoo. It was large enough to house several hundred birds. I think it was in the 1950's that the cage collapsed. The birds were now free. Many of them flew around the park and remained there. Others were spotted miles away in New Jersey.
