It's true that the animals are in more natural enclosures, which make it harder for people to view them. But, if you time your visit so as not to be watching them during the worst heat of the day, you have a much better chance of seeing the animals move about their areas. They, like us, tend not to be as active - out in the open especially midday during the hot Summer months, which, sadly, is prime Zoo visiting time for many families. Try to go early in the morning, or wait till later in the day when the shadows might begin to make the areas a bit cooler for the animals. Also, of course find out when feeding times are for each species. You'll always see the animals moving about then.
