Misterl, perhaps the significance of the word "MIDWAY" in "Bill Daly Midway Restaurant" refers to Jerome Avenue as being "MIDWAY" between East and West Bronx. The location of the former restaurant at 1218 Jerome Avenue was located in the WEST Bronx (Highbridge) BUT close to the corner of EAST 167th Street which is in the EAST Bronx! Just a thought! Do you think that could be the answer, Misterl?
BTW, the fire hydrant in the photo is still in its EXACT SPOT today as it was when the photo was taken so many years ago!
