I can definitely see a good reason to ridicule that claim. Fieldston is actually on the eastern side of Riverdale if you consider HH Pkwy as the divider, and no part of it is on the Hudson. Most people I knew from that area always said they were from "Riverdale" without mentioning the Bronx. U Thant, who lived in Fieldston, once publicly mentioned living in Riverdale and the reporter responded "You mean the Bronx?"
