PS 32 had a "Summer School" and the school had two swimming pools, one for the boys and one for the girls. I still don't know why the boys weren't made to wear bathing suit; the girls did their pool. They also had games, etc. to keep us kids out of mischief.
There was the trip to Orchard Beach. We picked up the bus on Fordham Rd. It was packed to the doors. Coming home you had to go on line to get a bus.The beach was always so hot. Each neighborhood had their owm area. Section 13 was for the Belmont-Fordham area. That's the way I remember it.
No one on my block went away for the summer. This was in the early fifties.

By the time August came, I was ready to get back to class.
