I don't recall grinding chalk; all I remember was flour in the stockings or carrying a piece of chalk & swiping ones back when not looking & yelling Halloween. I guess the yelling kinda legitimizes the strike. The really mean kids would use colored chalk which is almost impossible to remove from a coat. BTW, normally it wasn't girls who were the target, they wouldn't hang around much, you'd be wacking your own kids on the block.
