As you pointed out in your response to Chris, the Riverside Diner in Photo 181 was most likely gone during the time that he lived in that neighborhood. That is why both Chris and the BB Administrator couldn`t figure out HOW I correctly guessed its exact location without web -sleuthing! I had NO intention of searching the web for ANY place (a diner or otherwise) in The Bronx which no longer exists. It would be too much trouble for me to try to find it! After reading your terrific guess AND reasons for the possibility of the former diner`s location as being on or close to the northwest corner of 238th Street and Broadway, under the elevated station, I really thought you may have have nailed its location; however, when you decided to switch your guess to the diner`s location as being somewhere on River Avenue near Yankee Stadium, I "followed" you there where some other people had already guessed the location as River Avenue, NORTH of Yankee Stadium. Since I have ALWAYS known that the 167th Street Station of the Jerome Avenue line was the ONLY other station over River Avenue, north of the 161st Street/Yankee Stadium station, I was surprised that nobody guessed the location as being under the 167th Street elevated station. I then decided to guess it myself, as it was UNESSESSARY (and ubsurd!) to find it by searching the web. As an "additional" guess, I chose the northwest corner of 167th Street and River Avenue, "inspired" by YOUR original guess and our discussion of the area VERY close to the northwest corner of 238th Street and Broadway.
If Chris and the BB Administrator are reading my above response to you, I would hope that they would NOW know that I did indeed "come to that conclusion" without web-sleuthing!
Misterl... I would greatly appreciate a reply from you. Thanks!
