I wanted to be an auto mechanic with asperations of owning my own repair facility. To that end I apprenticed with 2 Armenian brothers that had a shop on Webster Ave. & 179th. St.,(Hye Auto Electric)in the mid 70's. I worked with them weekends & summers during high school. After graduation, I spent 11 years as a mechanic with Lincoln, then Buick. I left the trade at 29 yrs. old to take a job with NYCTA. I spent my career with NYCTA working at a Bronx location, not far from where I grew up. It was like I never left the Bronx until I retired a few years ago!
