I actually saw it "in service" when it was 5 years old, in 1957, maybe the last year or so that the Put was in operation. I saw it in various stages of neglect--for example, maybe 25 years ago, it was only a framed, but the sign "Van Cortlandt Park" and the broken lamps were still there. There were also still a few bits of broken wood coming out of the frame. Now, it's the frame only.
