And let's not forget Spotless dry cleaners, Tremont Savings, the linoleum store, Victor's butcher shop, Allerton theater, Julie's dairy, the news stand under the el, the pet shop, chinese laundry, Zimmerman's candy store, Lanzetta's, the fish store where they sold live carp, and a couple of fruit stands in addition to D'Allesio. It's funny how you walk that street in your head.

The one thing that's changed in this world are the smells. Some say you lose your sense of smell as you age, but I really think things were more pungent back then. You could tell exactly where you were blindfolded by the scent of pizza, pickles,cheese, newsprint, or baking.
