Barbara I went to Holy Spirit and the stories about the nuns were legendary. One in particular was Sr. Evangelista, probably the most miserable, nastiest person on the face of the earth. She had a hole in the chalkboard of her classroom. The story was she slammed a student's head through it. Whether it was true or not it brought fear to all who were in her class. That being said for the most part the nuns were tough and commanded respect, which in my opinion, was true for all teachers in our generation but the abuse was uncalled for.
