Where Was Your Favorite Shortcut For Walking?

Mine was through an open lot which bordered on the gate of my Cruger Avenue backyard. I always saved lots of walking time by opening the gate which led out to a winding path down to White Plains Road. From there, the Allerton Avenue elevated subway station was a half block walk, my playground was a one block walk and Bronx Park was a three block walk.

Do you remember saving time by walking through a shortcut close to your Bronx home? If so, where was it located?
