Hi Kevin,
In High School I rode the Q-44 from the Cross BX service Rd on Pugsley & Ellis Ave. I think the fare was 20 or 30 cents. I don't remember if bus passes were available.
Then in 1970 I got my drivers lic and drove my dads rusty '68 Ford Falcon to school.
(as long as I paid for the gas)
He worked in the city and took the Lexington Ave #6 from Parkchester to Grand Central.
Way back when, I did walk to the elementary school on Benedict Ave.
