We had a 16" RCA Victor console TV that my father bought around 1950. I was 9 or 10 years old. He attached an antenna to the chimney on the roof of the 3 family house where we lived - with the landlord's permission, and then a wire from the TV up the side of the house to the antenna.

I watched Jon Gnagy (yes, that's correct with a G before the N). He had a program called "Learn to Draw" on channel 4 WNBT. Those early lessons must have helped as I became a graphic artist.
