When I was in grammar school, 1950's, in Woodlawn, we had the "June Walk". That was sort of a parade from St Barnabas parish, up to the Van Cordlandt Park fields at 233rd St and Jerome Ave. Lots of games, and snacks, for the kids. I don't remember rides, though. It was fun for us kids at the time.
