I attended DeWitt Clinton High School when the Kent State shootings happened in 1970. If my memory is correct, the student body president got on the loudspeaker and announced it and the vast majority of students flooded out of the building in protest. A group of students surrounded the flagpole to protect the flag while another group tipped over a city bus. Short protest but interesting times.
