You're right Richie. It reminds me of a July day in 1962 on Burke Ave when one of the Wanderers who had a grudge against one of the store owners blew up an M80 (ashcan) against the shop window. After it was smashed, all of the guys watching began smashing the windows of the other stores and grabbing whatever they could. It all had nothing to do with the grudge (the store owner had apparently called the police on one of the guys some time before this). It was an opportunity to destroy and pillage. I'm sure sociologists and philosophers could write volumes about the root causes of this behavior, but the end product is simply malicious mayhem.
