In 1955, we moved from The Bronx into one of four brand new cooperative apartment buildings in Flushing, Queens, across the street from the Queens College campus. Appropriately, the buildings were called "College View Apartments", with each building named for a college. My building was "Cornell", the other three were "Dartmouth", "Barnard" and "Adelphi". All the new residents came from either The Bronx, Brooklyn or other neighborhoods of Queens. It was a true mixture of all three boroughs and one could not tell by their speaking voices who came from which borough. To my ears, everybody seemed to have had the SAME Noo Yawk accent!
