I had the same experiences as the other old fogies who posted (Dave and Mary, please forgive me). People are imprinted with whatever music is hot during their teens. Interestingly, in old age nursing homes, when they play music for people, there are different preferences for those who are in their 70s vs. their 80s vs their 90s. I happen to also like soft rock but I can't really understand hip-hop. One of the things that trouble me is that young Black people who are into hip-hop have no interest in Jazz, one of the great music inventions of Black people in America.
