Remember the character of the owner/proprietor? Remember the shoes that were not retrieved and lined up on the top shelf forever? Remember the magical machinery? Remember the conveyor belt humming noise? Remember the unique smells? Remember the proprietors dirty apron?

Did your family throw out your shoes when the heels or soles were worn down? How many heels and soles were replaced on an average pair of shoes you wore? What was the criteria your mother or father used to determine when a new pair of shoes was necessary? Where did your mother buy your shoes and did they use a Fluoroscope machine (x-ray) to determine your foot size? Did you wear galoshes over your shoes when it rained or snowed?
