We lived in Marble hill. The strange thing is, although most of the Jewish families were non-Orthodox (I think we were among the few who, although we weren't strictly kosher, didn't eat pork or shellfish), the synagogues that were around (Kingsbridge Center of Israel, Young Israel of Kingsbridge, Kingsbridge heights Jwwish Center) were all Orthodox. It's like my father, who was raised in an immmigrant, Orthodox background--he rarely went to synagogue, but when he did, he wanted one that reminded him of his childhood.
