I attended parochial schools and yes there was some corporal punishment but there was order in the classrooms and hallways. There has to be some type of discipline when dealing with kids. My eternal thanks to the religious men & women who sacrificed their lives to teach us. It forged my character for life. Did I enjoy being disciplined at the time NO but realize now it was an necessity.
I read in the newspapers of the violence and absolute chaotic disorder in the public schools. One or two kids could completely disrupt a class to the detriment of the other kids. The teachers are powerless to control the situation due to political restraints. Metal detectors entering a public school?? Teachers being assaulted by students? Unheard of while was I was growing up. God help the kids growing up in this environment.
