Memories of Jahns Retaurant in the Bronx Return to topicsPost to this topic

Friends and I would always go to the Jahns a few blocks up from Fordham Road (was it on Kingsbridge Road) after a concert or square dancing at Poe Park (late) 1950s. it was always a fun time in Jahns! Unique food and desserts. One dessert was a huge bowl of 30 scoops or more of ice cream which we all shared.
Do you have any fond memories of Jahns

I used to go there every Friday night.
My fondest memory was my buddy yelling..."don't leave anything over... they serve it to the next customer!"

I celebrated two or three birthdays there..........I use to get Suicide a la mode! It was free on your birthday.
Most celebrations were at Patricia Murphay's in Yonkers....but we had a few occasions to go to Jahn's.

Here's Jahn's Ice Cream Menu, ca. 1960:

Thanks for the image of the menu!!

The Kitchen Sink must have been the menu item with all those scoops of ice cream.

BTW: How'd you add the image of the menu in your response?

Based on inflation, I guess the Kitchen Sink would be at least $50 today.

You're "lowballing" a scoop of ice cream today. I would say one scoop of ice cream today would cost $5.00. Assuming the Kitchen Sink had 30 scoops of ice cream. Then the Kitchen Sink would cost $180.00 today!

Error: Should be "Then the Kitchen Sink would cost $150.00 today!"
