When I was about 10 or 11, I remember filling out a coupon on the back cover of a comic book to receive a packet of stamps ON APPROVAL. I didn't know what that meant and a few months later I got a letter from a company asking for payment. Don't know for how much it was, but my mom reluctantly sent them a money order.

For a quarter and a box top from Shredded Ralston cereal I received a pair of Tom Mix spurs that "glowed in the dark". A lot of these mailings went to Battle Creek, Michigan. I wish I still had some of the things I anxiously waited for in the mail. Now, just memories.
