It's a mixed bag. Some of the "leaders" that I know earned advanced college degrees and were pretty successful in life. Others just liked to boss "weaker kids", but the so called weaker kids went on to higher education and many of the bullies were lost to oblivion. High School was where we all found our true level. New friends being made in college, moving to a new neighborhood and other factors widened our horizons.

Was there child who assumed the position of unofficial street leader in your neighborhood in the Bronx? He or she had a big personality and was the take charge kid for sports or other miscellaneous activities?
What were they like and what became of them later in life if you know?
