Just a guess based on the architecture and the clue about desirability of the location, I'm thinking this is part of the Amalgamated Coop next to Van Cortlandt Park? I remember my parents talking about how much they would love to get an apartment there. I think that's where Ralph Lauren (Lipshitz) lived.
