1959.13 year old Kid Ace is havig a Love Affair with life - specifically wih cars cats and baseball. 13 years old, with an epiphany, a coming of age, like a gentle joyous breeze blowing thru an early spring day in March, bringing the unmistakable scent of new ramps pushing up thru the grass in Ace's "baseball field"- the park under her windows. And from her bedrooms, under Ace's windows, one could see those Grande Dames of the car world -- the bombasticaly beautiful 1959 Cadillacs -- a vision never to be repeated in future generations -- gliiiding haughtily down that road, all colors, styles, some sporting those magical concentric hubcaps. But there is more-- the neighbor's Sunbeam Tiger, whose V-8 engine would emit a distinctive roar, but only in the frosty cold mornings of winter. Then there was the mystery driver of the local black 1958 Impala-- I cherish those and many other days of my young life in the Bronx. And what were your special coming-of-age memories in the Bronx?
