Nope. Fordham Road never extended past Bronx Park. It was a U.S. 1 connector and designated to connect eastbound only to the Bronx River Parkway and no further. Pelham Parkway was originally just a one lane road and was officially established in 1911 as the Bronx and Pelham Parkway to connect Bronx and Pelham Bay Parks. So even though they are now one continuous road, they were and still are two independent routes across the Bronx. Interestingly, Fordham is perhaps the most commercialized street in the Bronx, while Pelham Parkway is protected by strict city regulations. No buildings are allowed within 150 feet of its center; no railroads are allowed to cross it; and no bars or hotels may be built alongside it.
