I've noticed in the last year a rise in the number of multiple alarm building fires in The Bronx. Back in the 60s & 70s which Firemen from those eras refer to as the War Years the South Bronx suffered the arson scourge probably worse than any other Boro. Although I lived on Harrison Avenue our apartment had a window facing Burnside Avenue. Between 1967 & 1970 I had a front row seat to 3 & 4 alarm fires along Burnside Avenue involving block long commercial store front businesses. I don't know if they were classified as arsons or not but that was certainly the theme back then.
