That year we played atop giant mountains of snow along the Grand Concourse. Like Pelham Parkway, it was a white desert of stalled and abandoned cars everywhere. One of those mountains on our corner near Clarke Place turned out to be a Volkswagon Beetle that was buried by the plows.
