While attending Hermann Ridder Junior High School (P. S. 98) in 1960 and 1961 some of us had to take the Southern Boulevard bus to get to and from the school. As a result we had to get new bus passes every week for which we paid a fee the amount of which I don't remember (It may have been 35 or 50 cents).

One of the fellows in the class figured out the frequency of the colors on the bus pass and came up with the idea to not throw away a used bus pass but to keep it until the same color was used for the following week (the bus passes were sold on Friday). He had no trouble with flashing the old pass when he got on the bus. Brilliant chap. He went on to Stuveysant and eventually moved out to California where at one time he edited a computer magazine.

Reader you will ask if I copied my friend...for that I must plead the fifth.
